Although from all appearances, it appeared to be an “ordinary, normal, suburban-church-style” baby shower, this baby shower was anything but. This baby shower was the result of a discussion with the local women’s shelter director who had called me one day, knowing I was always on the lookout for ways that our ladies’ group could serve the community. Daniel Chae, a college student at Baylor University in Texas, decided he wanted to have spiritual conversations with his fellow students, so he stepped out and launched a Q Place! At the end of April, photos were texted across the country, along with Daniel’s ecstatic announcement: “The very first Baylor Q Place!” The setting was perfect for college students: a make-your-own pizza night. Every time I travel, I try to get into my “adventure with GOD” mindset: I pray and ask GOD to make me hyper-aware of the people that HE brings across my path. I believe there are no coincidences, only God-incidences, and I want to have my antennas up and ready for them. My daughter received a birthday party invitation, and she was thrilled! We had only lived there a couple months, and she constantly complained she didn’t know anybody. How could we say “No”? It was a sleepover. The address was at the east end of our road. I helped my daughter pack a bag, and we headed down the road.
