Good Medicine

Good Medicine

Ever been so intent on noticing others that you had no idea someone was noticing you? An experience I had a few years ago confirmed that you never know who’s watching your life. It was Christmastime and Starbucks was its usual crazy busy. I had been working a lot but had no defining moment that I could point to that would explain what I did to throw my back out. I spent most of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day on the couch, but I knew that others had covered for me while I was gone during Thanksgiving. There was no...Read more …

From the Field – VITAL

In 2015 Q Place presented five regional VITAL events in four different cities. With God’s empowerment, the one day format, a strong call to action, and steady follow up has led to increased Q Place activity wherever we have taken the event. And the results? Here are some updates from VITAL in Seattle and Denver. VITAL: Seattle On March 26, 2015, Q Place presented VITAL: Seattle, where many pastors and ministry leaders were introduced to Q Place and the 9 Arts of Spiritual Conversations. At the end of the event, all attendees were invited to join Initiator Coaching sessions. In the months...Read more …

On the Radio – Walk the Way

This is Walk the Way, brought to you by Q Place, I’m Jeff Klein. In ancient Israel, the entrances to the walled-in cities of the day, the city gates, served as more than mere entryways—they were literal places of people connection, interaction and exchange. The city gate was a real place where outsiders met insiders. At the city gate, those who lived in outlying areas had access to what the city offered. What a great image for the church. And I think maybe this is what we imagined when we created our modern day church buildings. But too many times...Read more …

Continuing on

The Book of Acts is the story of the movement that started when the church’s first missionaries carried the gospel message from city to city and place to place. The result? A person-to-person, rapid and viral spread of the good news as individuals were transformed by Jesus and “infected” with the DNA of the Kingdom. A deeper look into the activities of Paul, Barnabas, Silas, and John Mark reveals strategic patterns that were essential in this movement: They followed the leading of the Holy Spirit. They went to key cities in the ancient world. Crossroads. Places of intersection. They found...Read more …
What could this mean?

What could this mean?

This past fall several people who pray fervently for Q Place let me know individually that as they prayed, words or visions came to them that involved a sword. In one case, I was holding a large sword with both hands and vigorously slashing with it. What could this mean? At barely five foot three inches, I don’t have a large physical stature and certainly don’t come across as a sword-wielding, violent person. Then another ministry friend shared what came to her in prayer—that as I lead this ministry, I need to speak the Word of God. This message brought clarity....Read more …
Kavanah

Kavanah

We are just beginning a new year—2016 lies before us open and waiting. And with resolution-making and goal setting at their height, perhaps there is no better time to think about how you will intentionally join God in His mission to bring all people back into relationship with Him. Let’s talk about that word: intentionally. Intentionality is related to the Hebrew concept kavanah, which comes from the Hebrew root meaning “to direct, intend, focus.” The notion combines action and intent, and its implications are clear: A person lives in a meaningful way by taking thoughtful, deliberate actions. Yet even further...Read more …
Looking Forward

Looking Forward

We thank the Lord and we sing His praises! We have experienced His unfailing love and far-reaching faithfulness this past year. And in 2016, we look forward to empowering each one of you to come alongside people who believe differently, so that they might discover and experience the Lord’s unfailing love and far-reaching faithfulness for themselves. Exalting His name, The Q Place TeamRead more …

On the Radio – Walk the Way

This is Walk the Way, brought to you by Q Place, I’m Jeff Klein. And I’m Pam Klein. Tonight, Chicago will have a new, New Year’s Eve experience that, they say, will rival the one in Times Square. I have to admit I’m a skeptical. And maybe a wee bit biased. I grew up just on the other side of the Hudson in New Jersey. You’re going have to convince me. The plans are big: It’s going to be along the Chicago River, with three stages for music, and a midnight countdown featuring a giant star rising into the sky,...Read more …
Change the World

Change the World

In the opening scene of the movie Pay It Forward, a 7th grade Social Studies teacher is talking to his students on the very first day and asks his class, “What does the world expect of you?” One student responds, “Nothing.” Teacher asks another question: “What if you don’t like what the world is? What if it’s a big disappointment?” Another kid responds, “Then we have no chance.” But the teacher believes the students can grab control and make something of the world; they can flip what they don’t like over and literally turn the world upside down. That’s when he...Read more …
The Call of Christmas

The Call of Christmas

“Everything in our society teaches us to move away from people who don’t look like us. But the Gospel calls us to something altogether different. We are to laugh at fear, to lean into suffering, to open ourselves to the stranger. [On Christmas] we remember how JESUS put on flesh and moved into the neighborhood. God getting born in a barn reminds us that God shows up in the most forsaken corners of the earth…JESUS came from Nazareth, a town from which folks said nothing good could come. He knew suffering from the moment he entered the world as a...Read more …
