On the Radio this week – Walk the Way

This is Walk the Way, brought to you by Q Place, I’m Jeff Klein. And I’m Pam Klein. My friend and I had just left a garage sale in a very expensive neighborhood and set our GPS to the address of the next one (this is regular summer Friday stuff for us) when we saw a very long fence between two of these exclusive properties painted green, pink, purple, orange and yellow. Yup. One section one solid color, then another, another color, but then individual slats–one after the other–each painted a different color. It was crazy! And in this neighborhood?...Read more …
The big and intricate love of God

The big and intricate love of God

Many of us are familiar with the following Scriptures – but seeing their reality is downright mesmerizing. That’s why we’re sharing an incredible video for you to watch after you’ve taken a moment to read through these verses–the video will allow you to see the truth within them: God loves who He has made.  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2  Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will...Read more …
Lovers

Lovers

The true sign that we have been learning from and following after Jesus is this: that we will love like Jesus loved. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (Jn 13:35 NIV). In Ephesians, Paul prays “that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God” (Eph 3:17-19). Love and unity among diverse...Read more …

On the Radio – Walk the Way

This is Walk the Way. Brought to you by Q Place. I’m Jeff Klein. And I’m Pam Klein.  A few weeks after worshipping with us on a Sunday, a new young couple stepped out on a limb and openly shared their struggles. Products of strict upbringings they got pregnant before they married and then didn’t do marriage too well after they did tie the knot. And baby number two was coming. This disillusioned little family came with their hurts and questions looking for grace, healing and a community. Nancy said she’d make pizza. That was awesome. We Italian girls know...Read more …
God, what do you have in mind?

God, what do you have in mind?

Every time I travel, I try to get into my “adventure with GOD” mindset: I pray and ask GOD to make me hyper-aware of the people that HE brings across my path. I believe there are no coincidences, only God-incidences, and I want to have my antennas up and ready for them. In February, while boarding the shuttle that would take me on my way to a conference in Orlando, FL, I noticed that the driver was of Middle Eastern descent. One click glance of the empty seats and it was obvious it would just be the two of us...Read more …
The Invitation

The Invitation

My daughter received a birthday party invitation, and she was thrilled! We had only lived there a couple months, and she constantly complained she didn’t know anybody. How could we say “No”? It was a sleepover. The address was at the east end of our road. I helped my daughter pack a bag, and we headed down the road. I pulled into the plain, white apartment building parking lot and saw a woman and a gaggle of girls trying to get all their stuff into a pickup truck. As I helped my daughter out of the car, a woman who...Read more …

On the Radio – Walk the Way

A few years ago, my brother, Chris, got married. Most of you are thinking, big deal, people get married all the time. But you don’t get it. This is amazing. This is the ultimate Valentine’s story. I’ve talked about Chris before. He lives in a wheelchair. He’s lived in one his whole life. He needs someone to dress him, take him to the bathroom, and even feed him. He talks on a communication device, typing the words in with his toes. I could never marry Chris. But Dawn could. She did. This very special woman fell in love with the...Read more …
Love at Work: Interaction Not Transaction.

Love at Work: Interaction Not Transaction.

Just recently, Jenn Nahrstahdt, Starbucks barista and friend of Q Place, worked her last shift at the coffee bar in order to pursue God’s next calling for her life. Jenn’s excited for what the future holds but also knows she’ll miss her Starbucks community—they meant a lot to each other. In the following piece (originally posted on Jenn’s own blog), Jenn says good-bye and thank-you to that community. But what On Q appreciated so much about her words, was how they so beautifully depicted how love and the way of Jesus can be lived out in the workplace. There are over 150...Read more …
Yes, Love Even “Them”

Yes, Love Even “Them”

What does it look like to love people the way God wants us to? The Bible certainly has a lot to say about that question, but one place most people wouldn’t think to look is the little Old Testament account of the prophet Jonah. Jonah is perhaps best known for giving a fish indigestion, but look closer at the story his life tells and you will see the relentless love of God for people who might seem unlovable. Jonah was a prophet in the northern kingdom of Israel in the 8th century B.C. And Jonah, like most people in the...Read more …

On the Radio – Walk the Way

This is Walk the Way, brought to you by Q Place, I’m Jeff Klein. And I’m Pam Klein. When Ruth arrived at Beatrice’s apartment one morning, cleaning supplies in hand, she assumed that cleaning was, indeed, on their agenda that day. After all, that’s what they’d talked about – Ruth would come and help Beatrice do some clothes organizing and deep cleaning. So why did Beatrice invited her to sit down, have some tea, and play a game? It’s like the line in the old Scottish poem: “the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry!” It didn’t take...Read more …
