On the Radio – Walk the Way

This is Walk the Way, brought to you by Q Place, I’m Jeff Klein.

Pam and I have one of pastor Eugene Peterson’s daily devotionals. The title of this particular collection really strikes me: Living the Message.

THAT is exactly what we’re supposed to do! Live the Message!

Peterson asserts that the Bible is first and foremost a text to be lived, not just studied and understood. A rabbi put it this way: “the Bible gets into hearts primarily through feet, not heads.”

God’s word says:
We walk in the ways of the Lord.
We run in the ways of his commandments.
We follow our Master.

It’s active.

Then Peterson goes on to say that any biblical text, no matter how revered, honored and studied, left unlived, is just like the manna the people of Israel hoarded in the wilderness. It breeds maggots – rots and does no one else any good.

Are you living the text?
Do you need to move beyond studying and start doing?
Could living the Gospel actually be the best way to share it?
