Slow Indeed.
I’ve just begun reading Kent Annan’s new book, Slow Kingdom Coming. It’s so good on so many levels, and similar to Q Place’s most recent book, Kent shares great practices that allow every believer to be part of building God’s Kingdom in ways that lead to lasting change.
I also really like the title–Slow Kingdom Coming. It speaks volumes of truth. God’s Kingdom is a slow one coming. Certainly it began 2,000 years ago when God sent His Son into the world to bring it back to Himself, but every one of us knows that God’s Kingdom has not come fully, yet. Didn’t you feel and sense that, too, in a profound way, again, too, in the immediate aftermath of the Orlando shooting just a few weeks ago? And even more recently with the terrorist attack in Turkey?
Our nation may be celebrating its freedom today, but as citizens of another kingdom, believers know there is an entirely different level of freedom to experience, one that these recent events indicate the world still has yet to know. And what a privilege it is for the follower of Jesus to be part of sharing that other freedom. God, in an incredible invitation of grace, has given every one of us the opportunity to partner with Him and help provide a taste of His Kingdom with those who have not met Him yet.
Have a great 4th of July.
